What better way to show a kid a good time - take them Porgy fishing. Yesterday, I had Walter, Tim & Connor out for a morning porgy trip. We had nonstop action from the moment we set the anchor till we had to leave. We left the fish biting. The spring run porgy's are still here, so give a call, and come on out to get in on this action.
Took the skiff out this morning with Josh Kelinson to chase striped bass in the creeks. We found a calm spot with warmer water, and started casting Rapala Skitter Raps - we had hits almost instantly. Most were small fish, then Josh hooked a nice 20" class fish, which we brought to the boat for photos & release. Later in the trip, I landed a similar 20" class fish, which after photos was released unharmed. The fish are there, and getting bigger....
Went out this morning for a beautiful sunrise, and some striper action - it did not disappoint! With a west wind, I found some glass calm water in the creeks, and started throwing top waters. I had strikes almost instantly. Most of the fish were small, and couldn't hook up on the lure, but I had two nice fish in the 20 inch range that I brought to the boat. Nothing beats seeing the strike on a top water lure. The skiff is the perfect boat for this, so give a call and boo
Yesterday I took out Chris Showalter for his birthday on a fluke trip. We had some wind against tide conditions, but after a steady grind through the sea robins, Chris brought in a nice keeper fluke. We had a great day on the water, and caught many fish. The water is warming, and the fishing is only going to get better. Give a call and book a trip.
I recently signed an agreement to be a brand ambassador for the GoFish Cam company. I am very exited to start using this amazing product on my charters. It is an underwater camera which attaches to the fishing line so you will be able to see almost real time images of your fish hitting & fighting. I plan on providing this video to my charters on a regular basis this season. Check them out : www.gofishcam.com
With the Fluke being finicky eaters, I decided to try porgy fishing today for some Jumbo Springtime Porgys. The fishing didn't let me down. The bite was steady all day, and all fish were legal keepers, with some sea robins mixed in. Picked up my friend Jim Stumpf partway through the day to continue fishing. Even with wind against tide conditions, we keep 15 big Jumbo porgies for the table, and threw back fish all day. The water warmed up slightly, and a few more nice day
Opening Day for Fluke season is upon us. It started rainy, cold, with colder than normal water. I went out with Ed Deitch, to hit the fluke grounds. There were boats everywhere. We fished both sides of the tide - but the Fluke gods weren't with us today. We caught countless sea robins, some short fluke, and Ed got a giant Black Seabass, which we released since it's out of season. With a weather warm up forcast for the next few days, the fishing should only get better ea
