This past Tuesday, I kicked off my first Catch & Cook trip of the season out of the beautiful Silver Sands Motel, taking the Pinto family out for a classic spring mixed bag adventure.

Despite some light rain and thick fog, spirits stayed high—and so did the bite! We started inshore on Peconic Bay, where the weakfish were chewing. Two solid keepers hit the box early, followed by a beautiful keeper fluke to round out the inshore session.

As the tide shifted, we made our way to Plum Gut for striped bass. We hit a dense fog bank—Plum Island and the lighthouse completely disappeared—but the bass didn’t mind. We landed a perfect slot fish for the table!

Back at Silver Sands, the chef worked his magic:

 Weakfish crudo with gooseberries

 Fluke ceviche bursting with flavor

Striped bass served over beans in a rich broth with fresh cilantro

This trip had it all: adventure, great fishing, and an unforgettable meal. If you want the freshest sea-to-table experience Long Island has to offer, book your stay at Silver Sands and ask for a Catch & Cook charter with me.

You catch it—we cook it. It doesn’t get any fresher than this!
