Had a great trip yesterday with Steve Figari, Joe Goller, and his son Jett. We started out slow with the fish, but eventually we found the spot, figured out the right bait, and the fish found us. The boys caught porgy's, sand sharks, sea robins, and small black sea bass. Young Jett was the star angler of the day, taking over every rod when the fish struck, and landing some monster porgy's. The boys went home with some great memories, and a bag of tasty fillets.
Went on another away trip with the crew of the "Knot Debaitable" yesterday. The boys wanted to catch some Montauk striped bass. We had a beautiful ride over, after the previous nights storms. The fishing was slow, a steady gradual pick. Greg was the first to hook up, and it was a monster 41" fish that took his live eel. John hooked up next, and it was a big fish - but we had a heart breaker with the hook snapping in two and losing the fish. John eventually hooked up aga
Took out Pete Egan and his three grandsons Jack, James, & Luke. The boys were into fish on the first drift. We had nonstop action with the porgies. Although we didn't find any large fish, we were catching constantly. They also caught sea robins, sandsharks, and some small black sea bass. The boys all had smiles on when we got back to the dock.
Took out kids camp again for Peconic Water Sports. Had two boys who had a great time fishing the bays. We caught jumbo porgys & sandsharks. The boys had a blast, and went home with a nice bag of fillets.
Took the crew of the "Knot Debaitable" out to Montauk yesterday for a mixed bag trip. We started fluking on the south side in some pretty decent swells. The fluke weren't that cooperative, but the sea bass didn't disappoint. John & Greg had non-stop action with the sea bass all day, a steady mix of shorts and keepers. I even got in on the action, jigging up a keeper. We caught 1 keeper fluke, and when the tide slowed, we decided to head back to Gardiners Island. We hit
Had the Saraceni charter out today. The guys had a great time. We started catching porgies almost immediately, and the two boys started a competition that lasted the entire trip. We moved around the bay, constantly catching fish. We finally anchored up on one of my spots, and the fish became larger, and then young Nikko caught a huge 26 inch weakfish. The boys had a great time, and a nice bag of fillets went home for dinner.
Had a charter cancellation, so I called my friend John Ingrilli and jumped into the Mako Proskiff, and headed over to Shinnecock Bay for some light tackle fluking. Had a great ride over, and got there to an incoming tide. We had fish on the first drift, with John bagging a keeper. We had many more shorts & sea robins. We moved around a lot, and tried different combinations of lures until I caught another nice keeper fluke. It was a great trip, and the cool ocean air was
Had Sue, Nick, Charlie & Jenn out yesterday for a Gardiners Island fluke/sea bass trip. We had great weather, and flat seas on the run out to Gardiners. The fishing was slow, but we managed a nice catch of Fluke and Sea Bass, along with shorts fluke, sea robins, and sand sharks. Charlie had a squid chasing his bait, which we netted and released. Had a great trip, and some tasty dinner was had.
